MECAM Fellowships 2025-2026 at Université de Tunis: The Merian Center for Advanced Studies in the Maghreb (MECAM) at the Université de Tunis, in collaboration with the Forum Transregional Studies and leading institutions such as the Philipps-Universität Marburg, the Universität Leipzig and the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA), has announced its prestigious MECAM Fellowships 2025-2026.

This opportunity invites six postdoctoral and three advanced researchers to immerse themselves in an eight-month, fully-funded research residency in Tunis, Tunisia, from September 2025 to April 2026.

Under the overarching theme of “Imagining Futures: Dealing with Disparity,” fellows will conduct research in one or more of MECAM’s five Interdisciplinary Research Fields (IRFs):

  • Aesthetics & Cultural Practice
  • Inequality & Mobility
  • Memory & Justice
  • Resources & Sustainability
  • Identities & Beliefs

This program promotes global academic exchange and interdisciplinary research collaboration among scholars from the Maghreb, the Middle East, Europe, and beyond.
